I know waiting is hard. Time drags on and you ask yourself, “When is it going to be my turn? When do I get my love story?” You become upset and impatient. You think maybe you expect too much and should lower your standards just a little. But this is not the answer. Ladies, you deserve the best.
You meet a guy. He’s cute and he’s smart. You’re not head over heels for him but you like him “enough.” He’s “nice enough” and he’s “respectful enough” and he’s “Christian enough.” He’s not at all a bad guy. You feel good when you’re with him. But in your heart you know it’s not enough. Something is missing.
You deserve more than that guy who is just “nice enough.” Who is just “respectful enough.” Yeah, he makes you laugh, which feels good in the moment, so you like him because he makes you feel a little better. He’s cute and he’s smart. Where’s the harm in it? You deserve a guy who is more than just “enough.” You deserve a guy who is great.
You deserve to be swept off your feet by someone who intends to hold you forever, not just while the moment lasts. You deserve to be treated with the utmost respect no questions asked. You deserve someone who will love you like Christ loves you, a self-sacrificing love. You deserve someone who makes you feel worth it. You deserve someone who is willing to wait, too.
You deserve a love that meets all your expectations. You deserve a love that doesn’t make you doubt whether this is the right one or not. You deserve a love that builds you up and makes you a better person. You deserve a love that fills you with peace, not anxiety. You deserve a love that makes you feel worth it. You deserve a love worth fighting for. A love like this can not be rushed.
Waiting is difficult, especially when you have to watch all of your friends date, get engaged, and then get married while you sit by alone. They all tell you the same things. “When it’s meant to happen, it’ll happen!” “The wait is so worth it!” “When you know, you know!” “Great things are worth waiting for!” “God wouldn’t make you wait unless He thought it was good for you!” But none of that is a comfort to you. You know all those things already and you know that they’re true, in your mind at least, but it gets old hearing it over and over again.
In our hearts we know great things are worth waiting for. Look at Christ. He waited 30 years before He began His ministry. He had one of the greatest missions of all time, and even He had to wait. Let this be a lesson to us to be patient as we wait for our love stories, and know that life is about more than just romance. Life is about living for Christ. Don’t forget to do that while you wait. And remember, our time will come and the wait will have been worth it.
“Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.”
